The date has been set for No Vacancy 2009. It will be held in Sydney on Thursday, March 19. As ever the central themes will be Distribution, Innovation, Technology. It will be a great day featuring industry leaders, panels, case studies, presentations and debate. There may even be a touch of controversy with hard questions asked - and answered. Over the past two years No Vacancy has established a strong reputation and for dynamic programming and great networking. Around 250 delegates attended the 2008 event. Topics included online distribution, consumer trends, channel and yield management, carbon offsetting, star ratings, modern marketing tactics, pricing, social media strategies and plenty more. There's some great photographs - check them out if you have time. As for 2009, preliminary planning is now under way. In his role as President Travelocity Asia Pacific and ZUJI Chief Executive Officer Scott is responsible for leading the Travelocity-owned ZUJI online travel business throughout Asia Pacific, as well as managing Travelocity's growth and industry relationships in the region, which encompasses the Travelocity India and New Zealand branded sites, teams and relationships. Scott has more than 30 years' experience of business management in the leisure, corporate and online travel industry for listed and privately held companies. He joined ZUJI as Chief Executive Officer in January 2003. Scott brought with him to ZUJI a legacy of successful business leadership, and he has a travel and financial management career pedigree. Scott's prior posts included direct responsibility and broad strategic involvement for businesses in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, America and Europe. His depth of experience in the area of travel commerce is unrivalled in Asia Pacific as his scope of knowledge includes online travel, corporate travel, MICE and traditional bricks and mortar travel chains. Prior to joining ZUJI, Scott was Managing Director of Australian-listed company ITG Limited (formerly known as Internet Travel Group) where he was also responsible for the Group's three operating businesses in Australia and New Zealand In July 2005 Scott was appointed as a Director of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB); and has held various other Board and membership positions in travel and commerce. Scott's current favourite travel destination is Hua Hin in Thailand, because it offers him and his family such a relaxed atmosphere, along with great local cuisine, fantastic golf, bargain-filled local markets and an idyllic beach for getting away from it all. |
