The date has been set for No Vacancy 2009. It will be held in Sydney on Thursday, March 19. As ever the central themes will be Distribution, Innovation, Technology. It will be a great day featuring industry leaders, panels, case studies, presentations and debate. There may even be a touch of controversy with hard questions asked - and answered. Over the past two years No Vacancy has established a strong reputation and for dynamic programming and great networking. Around 250 delegates attended the 2008 event. Topics included online distribution, consumer trends, channel and yield management, carbon offsetting, star ratings, modern marketing tactics, pricing, social media strategies and plenty more. There's some great photographs - check them out if you have time. As for 2009, preliminary planning is now under way. Tim Harcourt is the chief economist of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade). As chief economist Tim analyses the global economy to help Australian exporters and helps Austrade devise its own international business strategies. A prolific author and globetrotter, Tim has visited over 40 countries in the past 4 years alone. Tim is an active commentator in the Australian and international media on economic and trade issues. Tim appears regularly on TV and Radio shows including on Business Lateline, Lateline, Business Today, Mornings with Kerry-Anne, Sunday, Sunrise, Bloomberg, CCTV, BBC and CNBC Asia. Tim also writes for a number of major publications including The Australian Financial Review, The Business Review Weekly, The Age, The Australian, The Advertiser, The OECD Observer, The Economic Times and various website and blogs. Before joining the Austrade, Tim was an economist and industrial advocate with the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). Tim has also worked for the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and has overseas experience in the corporate sector in the UK the USA and Israel. Tim was educated at the University of Adelaide, the University of Minnesota and Harvard University. Tim is an active swimmer, runner and cyclist and an enthusiast of a range of sports including cricket and football (all codes). He also enjoys amateur cartooning, music, travel and Aboriginal art. Tim is married to Jo Bosben and they live in Sydney with their daughter, Yun Shi. Tim is also a prolific author.
